The Pride of Algoma was developed in through a joint social work placement position between Algoma University and AUSU. True to the spirit of the Queer and Trans community, the Pride Centre embodies a spirit of resistance and revolution, and fought with tenacity to secure its original location, which was little more than a closet. Service offerings of the Pride Centre include: print and virtual resource library, advocacy campaigns, social programming, peer groups, educational workshops, gender affirming resources, referrals, and more!
Sault Pride Sault Pride is a community organization with a mission to bring people together from Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District to celebrate the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community. The annual Sault Pridefest has become a celebration of unity and diversity, inclusion and vibrant creativity. Growing up in Michigan, especially if you lived in the southeastern part of the state, the northeastern tip around Sault Ste. Yes, you need a passport to travel to Canada, and yes, you need to go through the annoying customs process, but sometimes traveling right across to Ontario feels like you never left Michigan. You could make your precious free time easier on yourself by hopping on a cheap flight to the many diverse and accessible Canadian cities that, with an open mind and a willingness to explore, are far more interesting and, sometimes, even more queer than their American counterparts.

Located in the Robinson Huron Treaty territory, we are grateful to Mother Earth for providing us with the land, water, air, and food needed to sustain all life. We acknowledge Indigenous Peoples as the original stewards of this land who have lived in harmony and in respect with all Creation.
